Why I Am a Translator

I always knew that a good communication and proper understanding allows us to get close one of the other; to respect each other more; to get free of our phobias, horrors, suspicions and not become enemies.

Understanding mentality, society, religious and cultural differences happens when we express ourselves, when we speak with each other verbally, in written form or through art. Art is interpretable. Often, perception and sensations are different even if it is about two persons with the same socio-cultural background. Words, written or spoken, are major tools, for human beings, to express thoughts, desires, and intentions.

The necessity of understanding the words becomes essential. That’s why I started to be keen in understanding more and more. I started to become sympathetic and sensible to diversity of human manifestation, to tamble down barriers that obstruct communication and understanding. After that, I wanted for those who weren’t able to understand, to translate them so that they would understand the world at its full.

First, I developed linguistic skills in my one language, Romanian, and in two others – Italian and English. But I felt that it is not enough. It is not enough to verbalize a language, I have also to communicate. I communicate when I understand. I understand after living near to the people every day, insight community, at least for a while. In that way I understand how people think, what are their dreams or believes.

I lived in Italy six years, entering in contact with people from different professional and cultural background – from the individuals with no education but with very strong religion believes, simply workers that speak just dialect to individuals with a very strong educational and cultural background, people that bring with them their history, religion and future. Today I try to establish my professional and personal life in England, having the same intention to become a better translator, and to increase my professionalism in this field.

My high school, universities and personal studies helped me to develop not just economics qualifications, but technical and IT skills as well. I am fluent in using programs like: Microsoft Office, Trados, Adobe Reader Professional, Adobe Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. I have insightful knowledge in web programming, websites development, web marketing and SEO.
